PROJECTS

At Pandorita, we are deeply conscious of the impact that human beings can have on the environment, both positive and negative. We believe that one of the highest functions that human beings can serve is as stewards of the land and sea. This land gives so much to us, and we are fully dedicated to giving back to her. We are also located in one of the most ecologically significant regions on the planet, which comes with as much responsibility as it does joy. We are so proud to be some of the many human guardians of the Osa Conservation Area. Please see some of our conservation initiatives below, including our coral reef restoration project, our repatriation of indigenous pottery, and our status as a permaculture facility and ecolodge.

CORAL REEF RESTORATION

Pandorita is a proud member of the Golfo Dulce Restoration project, whose mission is to restore the beautiful ecology of Golfo Dulce to its full potential. This includes mangrove and seagrass nurseries, and our latest project: coral reef restoration.  During the global coral bleaching event of 2015, Golfo Dulce lost a staggering 75% of its coral. Together, Pandorita, Osa Ecology, Sur Consciente, Osa Natural, Bird Tribe Foundation, Proyecto Corales, INA, and Seeds of Love have established coral nurseries, in the first private effort of its kind. These reefs play a crucial role in Golfo Dulce by reducing wave energy and safeguarding plant life that provide important water filtration and prevent erosion, as well as by providing a habitat for millions of species.

In March 2023, we established the first coral nursery, and in January 2024, we were able to plant these corals (all 260 of them!) on the seabed. While you're here, grab a snorkel and say hello to our four species of coral: pavona giganteapocillopora damicornis, psammocora, and porites lobata.

Become part of our heartfelt mission to restore the wonders of our beloved mother earth ♡

CULTURAL CONSERVATION

In June of 2024, Pandorita initiated the repatriation of dozens of pre-Colombian artifacts found on the land. Our mission of caring for nature and people also includes caring for the national culture and heritage of Costa Rica. These pieces are now safely in the hands of the National Museum of Costa Rica, and we maintain close contact should we find more in the future. Have a look below at some of the art of the ancient peoples who once called Pandorita their home.

PERMACULTURE

Pandorita is an ecolodge and a permaculture site. Permaculture is a whole-system approach to land management and settlement design that mimics the balance and regenerative cooperation found in nature. For example, we compost everything that we do not use in the kitchen to feed our food forest and herb gardens, which we are growing with the goal of sourcing all food from the land in the future. What we do not yet grow ourselves, we make sure is produces locally. We are also a solar-powered site that uses 100% biodegradable and ecologically responsible products.

BOOKING

We would like to offer those who are new to the world of ayahuasca the opportunity to talk to our experts in advance. We encourage you to book a consultation call, if you feel unsure or need further information.

If you suffer from severe mental instability, heart issues or high blood pressure the consultation call is mandatory before making a definitive booking.

This way we can find out together whether this adventure journey is suitable for you.
